We are currently investigating the history of our school and we would welcome any  contributions and stories or memories from ex pupils or resident of Gilfach.

The 1st image on the left shows the school many years ago. The Bowls club hasn't been built yet and the land is still seen as unlevelled coal tips.

The second image shows the same view of the School as it appears today in 2002.

Whilst looking for information on Gilfach on the Internet we looked for old maps of the area on the website http://www.old-maps.co.uk/ . This website contains Britain's most extensive digital historical map archive.

We managed to find a map of Gilfach from 1886, 24 years before our School was built. On this map we found details of an old Tram line which ran right next to our School through the area where our playing field is now. By looking at the route the tram line took it seems that it went straight under the bridges shown on the left.

The first image is a map of Gilfach in 1886.

Please note that the larger the image the clearer it will be and the longer it will take to download.

The second and third images show the bridge that the current main road through Gilfach (the A469) passes over.

The fourth image shows the bridge that the current railway line passes over.
