Oakdale's Design Technology Department have experienced many successes. Links with Industry have played a prominent role in promoting the department within the school and the local community raising its status as a relevant option amongst the pupils. Food Technology visits to Braces and McDonalds were very enlightening.

In July 2006 we won the Rotary Club Young Technologist and were runners up in the Young Chefs Rotary Club 2006.

As a department we have been involved in trailing new CD ROMs with the BNF/ FSA and Ulster University, which provides opportunities for pupils to access new interactive computer software. Our pupils were invited to the Welsh Assembly to
participate in the Welsh Youth Food Assembly where they met pupils from other schools.
