Media Studies

On December 4th, Mrs Edwards and four Year 11 pupils attended the annual Media 4 Schools film awards.  The four, Jack Parker, Libby Brimble, Adam Watkins and Ellie-Jo Smith had made a short film while in Year Ten about Brace’s Bakery.  They worked closely with Media 4 Schools on this project, and were given help, support and regular trips to McDonalds by Mrs Layland.

(who also insisted on taking a starring role!).

The final film was nominated for an award in the Best Edited Film category.  They were narrowly pipped to the post by Barry Comprehensive School, but the awards day was a great opportunity to see the other media work going on across Wales.

Alex Smith of 7SD also attended the awards with some Year 6 pupils from Rhiw Syr Dafydd Primary School.  Alex had been actively involved in their media project while in Year Six, which was a short film documenting the creation of the new yard.  Despite stiff competition, Rhiw-Syr-Dafydd won their category for Best Primary School Film.  Clips from their film were shown to the audience, and it was clear that their work, ably narrated by Alex, was a worthy winner!
Well done guys!
