As part of Schools Library Service Author Visits Programme, we were pleased to welcome Author and Illustrator Sue Heap on 15th February 2006.

Staff from SLS took Sue to visit Upper Rhymney Primary, where she entertained pupils from Reception and years 3 and 4. Pupils enjoyed listening to Sue's stories and also 'helped' to create some illustrations of the mouse from Mouse Party ( by Alan Durant), Sue's first picture book published in 1995. She has since illustrated many more picture books , a number of which she has also written,

Later in the day we visited Pontlottyn Primary school. Sue is pictured below in their school librar y reading one of her books to pupils, who were also happy to join in with the performance.

Pupils also enjoyed a reading of the the book Cowboy Baby, awarded the Smarties Book Prize Gold Award in the picture book category 1998.
